The Guide to Successful Photography Blogging

Updated: Oct 18, 2022

1. Share only pictures that will entice potential customers to hire you.

It's not necessary for you to reveal every single detail of the wedding day. One woman I worked with was determined to have pictures taken at noon in her favorite location on the property. Although the location was lovely, the harsh light coming through my camera did not do it credit. I immediately realized I couldn't use those pictures on my blog. I responded by telling her that yes, we could shoot pictures there, but that we should also use the adjoining shaded location because it had better lighting. She adored that notion! If you just remember one thing from today's blog post, make it this: when blogging, CURATE everything. Only use future-oriented imagery in your blog posts and write them with your target clients in mind.

2.Get your blogs online as soon as possible.

This is very significant! After photographing your weddings or sessions, be sure to blog about them as soon as possible. Why? as a result of your customers' excitement and eagerness for seeing their photographs. Their loved ones are eager to see the "official" photos from the occasion, which will increase traffic to your website significantly. I promise you, it works!

3. Make social media posts out of blog posts.

Make sure to post on all social media channels as your followers may vary by platform. Repurposing blog pieces into captions is an EASY way to create social media content. Don't forget to tag all vendors so they can share your post and bring attention to you among their followers and audience (again, free marketing). Here's an additional piece of advice related to organic marketing: Don't forget to include a location in your post! This is a fantastic approach to quickly reach additional locals.

Are you prepared to create engaging blog entries on photography? I urge you to look back through your work and highlight your best sessions or weddings if you're new to blogging or haven't been posting regularly. This will keep visitors to your website interested, increasing the likelihood that they will contact you and request a reservation.
